Socially Good Shopping Guide

I am a big believer in knowing who made the items I purchase and purchasing from businesses that follow through on serving the underserved with my dollar in their pocket.

You may have gotten your Christmas shopping done already and if that’s the case, go you! For the rest of us here is a shopping guide to check out that have a bent toward socially conscious business practices.

Krochet Kids. I am over the moon about the business model of Krochet Kids. They are a brilliant business that empowers mamas in Uganda and Peru in ethical work that produces fabulous apparel for you and yours. Their beanies are my favorite and I have my eye on a few of their scarves. They have stuff for us, the men in our lives, and our kiddos too.

Warby Parker. They are an online eyewear giant that will have the specs you want, both prescription and fashion, at a price that won’t break the bank. I own 5 pairs of Warby Parker glasses and am always impressed with their customer service. For every pair purchased a pair goes to someone in need.

Noonday Collection. Noonday will be your favorite once you drink in all the goodies they’ve come up with. Any jewelry style wants will be satisfied with their handcrafted (by a woman in the developing world) pieces. A woman is able to provide for her family and build a better life when we invest in a beautiful piece.

Kate Spade. If you’ve known me for any length of time you’ll notice my love of Kate Spade in my interior design choices, handbags, jewelry, journals, and even magnets. I love the classy style and can’t get enough so you can imagine my excitement when I discovered On Purpose, Kate Spade and Jack Spade’s endeavor to assist in building for profit business models ethically employing women in war torn Rwanda. It made my heart sing.

World Vision Gift Catalog. To be honest this one is my favorite and really the sweetest shopping opportunity with my kids. You can purchase anything from a chicken to a goat that will go to a family or farmer in need in the third world. We are family, whether its me and my kids, or brothers and sisters in the Congo. We are in this together. To give to them is beautiful.

This is not a paid post by any business mentioned. I’m simply a fan who believes in their mission as a business.
