I want to share something that’s been brewing in my heart since I first started this blog nearly a year ago. You must know I am fiercely passionate about connecting mamas whether it be around the world or right in our own backyard. I’m keen to champion a project or issue every quarter that serves mothers and children. With that said I am eager to announce the first focus will be serving a mother-to-be in her adoption from Tanzania.

Meet Daisy.

learn how to mom daisy

She’s a Brit who has made her home in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, Matt. Daisy and I met and became friends over the past 8 months. One afternoon Daisy asked to meet for coffee and when we did I had no idea what she planned to share with me.

During our coffee date she opened up her heart about her losses in her journey to becoming a mom. With misty eyes she told of the four babies she miscarried after 4 rounds of IVF and 5 years of trying to get pregnant. Her years were filled with disappointment upon disappointment. She had isolated her heart to protect from any more hurt as she watched friends around her get pregnant with their first, then second, and even third baby. After hearing her story she transitioned to say that her heart had become open to adoption and her love of Africa was warming her to bringing a baby into her home. At that point she had me in tears thinking of her heartache, believing for healing, and also in awe that she was led to adopt. With that we spent the next hour talking about agencies, dossiers, and the hurry-up-and-wait game of adoption. After prayer and an open door they decided to pursue a baby from Tanzania. Dear friend, let’s help bring the baby home. Adoption is extremely expensive from person experience I know it takes a village to raise a baby and in this case bring one into a family. Daisy is going from barren to baby and I am over the moon to invite you to be her village.

Here’s how it will work:

On October 19th we’ll start with a FB auction with 100% of the proceeds going toward their adoption agency costs. The highest bidder will pay the agency directly and their contribution will be tax deductible. Consider it some early Christmas shopping. To get started, like Learn How To Mom on Facebook to view items as they post throughout the day on October 19th. A list of items will be posted on the page before the auction begins. If you have friends who would be interested in supporting adoption let them in on it! If you want to give toward Daisy’s adoption and forgo the auction that is welcomed too! More information will be posted next week.
